We present some existence results for the ''nonresonant'' singular boundary value problem 1/pq(py')'+ mu y = f(t, y) a.e. on [0,1] with lim(t-->0) + p(t)y'(t)=y(1)=0. Here mu is such that 1/pq(pu')'+mu u=0 a.e. on [0,1] with lim(t-->0)+p(t)u'(t)= u(1)=0 has only the trivial solution.
