dc.description.abstractThis thesis considers computer methods for solving singularly perturbed differential equations. Standard algorithms are very inefficient when applied to these problems, although the exact reasons for this have not been well-understood. This thesis provides a new understanding for this phenomenon, and applies that understanding to designing new, highly efficient algorithms.en_US
