dc.description.abstract | This thesis is concerned with classification problems for finite linear groups. Our main concern is with groups of prime degree, and groups defined over finite fields and fields of zero characteristic. We use the computational algebra system Magma for producing results for various input fields. The results of this thesis complete the classification of irreducible subgroups of GL(n, q) for n < 4 and almost all characteristics. | en_US |

dc.local.note | We produce a classification for particular types of mathematical structures. Using various results, we create an method which allows us to create a program which efficiently performs certain computations for the mathematical computer package Magma. | en_US |
