Abstract
This paper presents a comparison between two model based diagnostics methodologies that can be used to detect and diagnose various faults that
occur in Air Handling Units. The process from model development to inference diagnostics is highlighted with emphasis on the requirements for
implementing a successful model based diagnosis solution. Comparative results of both methodologies on an air handling unit are presented and
thoroughly discussed using as a benchmark the rule-based approach known as air-handling unit performance assessment rule-set.
