This research assesses how the characteristics of age, gender and personality influence user acceptance of a software system in a mandated industrial setting. Guided by a conceptual framework based on the Unified Technology Acceptance and Use Theory (UTAUT) and research into the influence of personality, our study targeted an engineering team within a large medical device multinational organisation, who are officially required to use a specific software system. We collected empirical data from them to assess if age, gender and personality have a measurable impact on their use behaviour. The results of this study are discussed and recommendations for future research opportunities are presented.en_IE
