dc.description.abstract Organizations working in the development sector play an important role in contemporary processes of globalization. The term globalization has many interpretations, but it tends to refer to a certain set of observed societal changes. These include the disrupting of national boundaries, and the expansion of channels of communication between First and Third World nations (Castells, 2001). Development organizations are seen to be at the forefront of these interactions between the First and the Third Worlds, at this point in our history (Ebrahim, 2003; Prasad, 2003). en_US
